March 2022

***This Young Glory brief is free to enter, you don’t need a membership to submit your ideas***

Save ukraine

As you know, Young Glory draws participants from all around the world and that includes Ukraine, where our overall winners came from for the last two seasons. This week, we received a plea from our participants in Kiev to pause the competition and issue a brief to stop the war instead.

Of course, we agreed. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Considering the urgency, we’re also making the deadline shorter than usual and will be publishing all the ideas we receive. That may turn out to be too much for our (small!) team to manage, but we will update you either way.

Deadline: Things are moving quickly, so we’ve set the first deadline to March 10th at midnight PST.

The brief below is reproduced from what we received from our participants.

***March 1st update***

We don't think this is the kind of brief that requires too much incentive, but thanks to Cannes Lions' generosity, we will be able to reward the team who comes up with the best idea with a trip to Cannes for this year's festival.

***March 3rd update***

We have joined forces with the team behind: https://preventww3.in.ua

The ideas submitted to that brief will also be reviewed by our jury and eligible for the Cannes Prize.

BRIEF: TO SAVE OUR LIVES, THE LIVES OF UKRAINIANS AND UKRAINIAN CREATORS

When you will have finished reading this line, someone in Ukraine will have died from a bullet, rocket, or bomb again.

Today, Ukrainians need the talent and ideas of all the world's creators to stop Russian aggression and end the war. Therefore, we ask you to give all Young Glory participants a brief on creating ideas that could save thousands of lives.

Ukrainian creatives, like all the Ukrainian people, are forced to run and hide in bomb shelters every hour, leaving their homes under missile fire and bombardment of the state with the largest nuclear armoury. In such conditions, we can think of nothing but the cessation of aggression and the salvation of our country.

We believe that creativity can solve the most difficult tasks. Tasks, in which other industries are deadlocked. We, Ukrainian creators, ask to provide all Young Glory participants with an additional brief with a deadline of 5 days as soon as possible; to evaluate and publish all the entries in order to try to stop the war — not with bullets, but with creativity.

what happened?

At 4 am on February 24, Russian President Putin announced that he was starting a war against Ukraine, after which he began bombing our country and launched a military invasion from all the borders. Putin claims that Ukraine is a historical part of Russia and should be in its sphere of influence, although Ukraine has its own history and culture. Hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, as well as hundreds of Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, die every day. At the same time, Russian propaganda claims no losses and incites hatred against Ukrainians. We have to stop this!

TASK

Find any communication solution to stop Russian aggression in Ukraine; to bring the truth to Russian citizens and convince them, their army, and the leadership to stop the war and killing people.
